The hydro-chemical heat pump extracts thermal energy from very low grade heat sources and stores it in the form of chemical energy for later use. It can be released as required at different locations and at variable rates. Direct conversion of thermal energy into electricity is also possible. This technology is clean and environmentally friendly.

The project offers the following competitive advantages:

1) a HCHP oven/boiler can be manufactured at a specifi c cost of € 40-50/kW, producing between 100-175MWh/kW in 20 years of its useful lifetime
2) the entire HCHP consumes no fuel
3) the HCHP can also be used for lighting
4) a complete HCHP can save 80% of heating costs
